Gianna Isabella Magliocco

FOUNDER

Gianna Isabella Magliocco began her career assisting directors and producers on major Hollywood productions, including The Revenant, Interstellar, and Cold Pursuit. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in filmmaking from the University of Lethbridge. Her co-directorial debut, Balance, starring Stephen Baldwin, set the stage for her flourishing career as a filmmaker.

Magliocco has directed several acclaimed short films, including:

  • The Man from the Diner (shot on 16mm), which premiered at the 34th Edmonton International Film Festival in 2020 and aired on SuperChannel Network.

  • Open Mic at the Comedy Cabaret, which debuted at the Calgary International Film Festival in 2021

  • Mike on the Farm, a short documentary that premiered at the 36th Edmonton International Film Festival, screened at the CUFF Docs Series in Calgary, won Best Director at RocDocNYC and is now broadcast on Telus Optik Network, along with Famiglia, another short documentary.

In 2016, Magliocco founded Gate 67. Her first project with the company was producing a VFX Plates Unit for Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. She went on to option and develop The Curse of Audrey Earnshaw, a feature film funded by Telefilm and showcased at prestigious events, including the Frontières Film Finance Forum in Amsterdam and the Marché du Film at the Cannes Film Festival. The film debuted at the Fantasia Film Festival, earning a Cheval Noir nomination and a nomination for Best Scripted Feature at the AMPIAs in 2021. The Curse of Audrey Earnshaw is distributed theatrically in Canada by Vortex Media and represented globally by Epic Pictures Group.

Currently, Magliocco is in post-production on her debut feature documentary, A Portrait of Redemption in Five Acts, filmed in Venice, Italy.

Magliocco is represented by The Characters Talent Agency in Toronto.
